The communities America forgot are not without hope. They are without partners.
There are 338 counties across 30 states where more than one in five people have lived in poverty for over thirty years. This isn’t an accident. It’s the result of decades of extraction, disinvestment, and neglect: industries that closed and never came back, hospitals and grocery stores that shut their doors, schools left without funding.
Together for Hope works differently. We start from one conviction: the people closest to a problem already have the answers. We don’t arrive with outside solutions. We ask what a community already has, and we organize around helping it grow.
The proof is in the numbers, and in the people behind them
None of these are our programs. They belong to the people doing the work. Our job is to help them reach further.
Four priorities, one fight against poverty
Education
In the Mississippi Delta, a women’s savings circle raised their credit scores by an average of 89 points and saved more than $10,000 together.
Health & Nutrition
Coalition members have worked closely with Alabama Medicaid, maternal health advocates, and leaders across the state to support a Medicaid benefit for doula services.
Housing & Environment
A family that had never owned a home received the keys to their first one built by the hands of volunteers.
